Civil Law and Litigation
“Civil Law” refers to matters involving transactions, business relations and the prevention and resolution of disputes among individuals, businesses and, at times, governmental bodies. Often, the most economical and satisfying solutions come from steps taken to avoid legal disputes that often give rise to lawsuits. To that end, we endeavor to provide advice and solutions that will reduce the likelihood of litigation. However, where litigation is unavoidable or the only reasonable option, we stand ready to protect and advance the legitimate and valuable rights and interests of those who entrust their legal problems to us.
A significant portion of our practice involves legal disputes with health, auto and other insurance companies regarding the insurers’ obligation to pay or reimburse our clients for losses and harms. Generally, once a claim arises, insurance companies are on their own side and their hands often will not be as helpful as their policy holders might have expected. Unfortunately, legal representation and a lawsuit are often necessary to protect the rights and interests of those who are entitled to insurance coverage benefits but whose claims are denied in full or in part.
